Embracing figures goes hand-in-hand with embracing identity, and I have only recently begun to explore the concept of physical identity in relation to mental identity. Most of my figures have been males and men, wishful thinking I suppose, but sometimes they include a very important little detail that is often overlooked. Sometimes they will have little zig-zags under the pectoral line. This is a little nod to transgender identity. This can also be seen in some of my black and white pieces.
